Natural Gray Hair Inspiration: Janice
My name is Janice Cosby Bridges and I am a year natural. I cannot tell you how proud I am of myself! I did the BIG CHOP. I will be 58 years old in October and have had a relaxer since age 11.
I am the Chief Marketing Officer for a very large health system in Michigan and have been in healthcare marketing for 25 years.
Becoming natural has been a wonderful rewarding journey for me. I was afraid because I am completely gray and I have been known for my spiky gray hair cut. As a matter of fact, I was the first place winner of the 2012 Beauty Search for More Magazine. I won $5,000, and all expense paid trip to NY city and many other prizes. I’m featured in the Oct 2012 issue with my popular hair cut.
So I was very comfortable with my hair and actually didn’t want to disappoint people by going natural. But I’ve always wanted to be natural and it is the best thing I’ve ever done.
I love my kinky curly hair. So I thought I would reach out to represent all of us older folks to encourage other mature women to go natural. I’m stopped every day, all day about my hair.
I was stopped all the time when I had the relaxer, but being natural has taken it to a new level.
