We tried festival hairstyles at work and this is what happened.
So it’s a casual work day smack dab in the middle of a hot summer day and we are sitting in a meeting thinking about, what else? How we could be at a dope summer festival soaking up the sun, vibing out to the music, and most of all, the hair and fashion inspiration to rival our Pinterest boards and Instagram feed. But since playing hookie for a day to congregate at some sweaty outdoor event on the east coast isn’t necessarily the most feasible option when there is work to be done and projects to be completed in real time, we decided on a better second option: we rocked summer festival hairstyles for a day.

I felt like a true blogger, ready for my closeup at literally every moment. And it wasn’t too bad seeing my cool hair on my conference calls, either.

- To make it festival-worthy: Use a pomade that will give your braided bang just the right amount of hold and flexibility like Ouidad Clear Control Pomade

This was a big departure from the wavy wash and go I wear every day to work. I felt so much more festive than usual, and using a bun donut meant that my top knot was a lot bigger and more dramatic than it usually is. I probably won’t be wearing this look to work again, but I have actually started using the donut in my day to day styling routine when I want to change things up.

- The look: jumbo bohemian protective style braids with gold twine.
- The inspiration: this photo of @makaylamashelle
- To make it festival-worthy: Try not to touch your scalp so that your parts are fresh and clean for as long as possible.

Wearing the braids in the office gave me all of the girl next door vibes. I felt really chill, maybe even more chill than normal, and just more carefree towards my tasks for the day. And I can’t even lie, it was a ton of fun to have hair to swing back and forth!Alexandra (@queensconquer“>
- The look: a colorful headwrap tied into a bow
- The inspiration: this post by @msjwilly
- To make it festival-worthy: Pair your oversized headwrap with dainty pom pom earrings for added drama.

When I wore my head wrap, I was filled with a powerful energy that made me feel fearless, bold and invincible.

- The look: ombré micro braided pigtails with a flower crown
- The inspiration: this post by @ukcurlygirl
- To make it festival-worthy: slick down your edges with something that won’t dry your natural hair out like LottaBody Control Me.

I felt very regal throughout the shoot, and I did leave the flowers in all day. But I kept forgetting that I had them in, and the awed looks from other people in the building as I took my afternoon laps and bathroom trips went straight to my head. Hail April, Goddess of Abundance and Wordplay!Which one of these festival looks would you try?
