Curly Celebrity Hairstyles: People’s Choice Awards 2012
BunDemi Lovato.

For us curlies, it was a dismal showing at the People’s Choice Awards 2012. But since even the darkest of clouds have a silver lining, here is how you can get the few curly celebrity hairstyles that did make an appearance.

We say, next year, we all vote for more curly looks — after all, it is the people’s choice and we are the 60 percent!

Curly Actresses

Demi Lovato, Favorite Pop Artist, shined in the spotlight with her fiery type 2A red hair.  With lots of volume and long, voluminous curls she looked stunning.

To recreate, use a volumizing mousse to create a loose and airy curl, then tease the top and pin it back for a sleek look.

Ginnifer Goodwin looked drop dead gorgeous with her vintage finger wave bob. With her type 2C curls, use a hard hold gel and start with wet hair, create a deep side part, then take a comb and lightly set the curls side to side to give the finger wave look. Then air dry or lightly diffuse without disturbing the curls.

Faith Hill.

Faith Hill was as glamorous as always with her fabulous and big type 2A waves. Use a volumizing gel and a smoothing cream together to give the curls volume and definition, then create a deep center part and lightly finger the curls away from your face before setting dry.

Curly Actors

Adam Sandler, Favorite Comedic Movie Actor, the funny man himself, kept his type 3C curls short and cropped with a great paste to add control.

Morgan Freeman, Movie Icon, held his own for this great award with his type 4A silver fox curls. He kept his hair shiny with a good moisturizing oil, like argon or moroccan.

Curly Hairstyles Take Over the 2011 Country Music Awards
Bun

The CMAs should stand for Curly Music Awards with all the curlies out last night as they were definitely representing. There was no shortage of curlies on hand and the loose beachy look was definitely big.

Country Curly Women

Taylor Swift was natural and curly tonight with her demure and innocent look. Her style is perfect for Type 3a curlies, and is easy to style.  Start with a deep part and create subtle curls use a curling cream to increase and hold the curl, but that will not look wet or crunchy. Try something like AG Hair Cosmetics Re:Coil Curl Activator.

Kimberly Perry, from The Band Perry, who won Single of the Year and New Artist of the Year, looked fabulous while she was receiving so many huge awards last night. She had a loose mock bob with her Type 3a curls. To achieve the look yourself, pin the bottom layers underneath the top layers to give the appearance of a bob. This is a fantastic way to change up any style for just an evening, with no commitment.

Jennifer Nettles, of Sugarland, who won Vocal Duo of the Year, started the evening looking like a Greek goddess with her curly updo. Her Type 2c waves were pinned up for half the evening to accentuate the curls and then let down when she performed to let her curls loose while she rocked out on stage.

Shawna Thompson, of Thompson Square, completely changed her style last night and looked hot! She got rid of her chunky blonde highlights and went black and curly. Her Type 2c hair was voluminous, pinned half back and looked as shiny as ever with the help of a shine serum.

LeAnn Rimes, who presented last night, was as glamorous as ever. Her half up half down style stayed in place all evening. She achieved this fabulous look by pulling the top half up, creating a real sleek look, then scrunching her beachy Type 2a curls on the bottom half of her hair.

Kimberly Schlapman, Little Big Town, kept with her signature big sexy curls. Her 3c hair was ammmmmazing! She is the ultimate curly girl. Her hair is styled by using a curl enhancing gel and frizz free serum together to create volume, hold and shine.

Faith Hill stunned us with her first performance in five years and with her graceful beauty. Her Type 2c waves flowed back effortlessly. The waves and volume were created with a volumizing gel and by pinning at the roots to create lift.

And Don’t Forget the Curly Men!

Dierks Bentley is a genuine curly Q man. His Type 3a curls were held perfect in place with a great curl enhancing gel.

Blake Shelton, Male Vocalist of the Year, rocked it on stage with “Footloose.”  He kept definition in his Type 2b curls with a strong hold gel, so his hair was never out of place.

Lionel Richie went country with Darius Rucker tonight. He kept his Type 4a hair short, cropped, and in control with a strong frizz free styling cream.

How To Get Kate Middleton’s Royal Wedding Hairstyle
Kate Middleton tiara

Kate with the famous “Halo” tiara.

Things went off without a hitch at Westminster Abbey today, with Prince William marrying Kate Middleton in typical grand royal fashion. The couple, now known as William, Duke of Cambridge and Catherine, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, made their way from the abbey to Buckingham Palace in a 109-year-old carriage, where the couple finally shared the traditional balcony kiss (those royals are so shy when it comes to PDA”>. The former Ms. Middleton wore a dress designed by Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen.

The Tiara

For those of us who planned our own royal wedding as little girls, here are the deets on that tiara! Kate wore the famous Cartier “Halo” tiara which was crafted in 1936. King George VI (you know, the monarch spotlighted in the movie “The King’s Speech” for his stutter”> purchased the tiara for his wife, Elizabeth. Their daughter, Queen Elizabeth, received it as an 18th birthday present, when she was but a mere princess. The beautiful, delicate tiara was lent to Kate for her wedding by the Queen.

Kate Middleton’s Bridal Hairstyle

With her casual elegance and natural beauty, we wouldn’t be surprised to see brides everywhere wearing similar styles this wedding season. Stylist Anna Craig, of Trashy Roots Salon, gives us how-to, step by step instructions on getting Kate’s wedding hairstyle (she’ll always be Kate to us”>.

1. Do a big blow out with a volumizing mousse and a large round brush.

2. Part your hair on the side—if you do it with more exaggeration, it will create more drama. Then, spray your entire head with an aerosol hair spray so your hair will hold its shape and curl.

3. Using an inch and a half curling iron, section your hair and start at the bottom and curl all of your hair. Be careful not to over-curl your hair or you will get a ringlet look—you want loose, flowing curls.

4. Pull back each side and lightly twist and secure with a bobby pin, but do not let the pin show.

5. When finished, spray hairspray all over with a fine mist to hold your regal style all night.

Not everyone gets, or wants, a bona fide prince, but you, too can have the hairstyle of a princess—er, Duchess. As for her makeup? You’ll have to ask her yourself—Kate did her own makeup for the wedding.
